Question and Answers

Printing

Q: I am trying to print labels, but I can't seem to fit the information on the label properly. What is wrong?

A: Turbo-School supports 1"X4", 1.5"X4", 2"X4", 3-1/3"X4" labels. Under Demographics – Printed Labels - Edit the Format, set the height (located in the upper left of the screen) to 6, 9, 12 or 20  respectively. If you wish to use a different size of label, export the information you want to disk and do a merge with your word processor.

Q: I have a laser printer, but it is not made by HP.  Why can't I print?

A: Some laser printers are meant for Windows printing only.  You can tell if a laser printer will work with Turbo-School if it specifies that it has a "PCL Emulation Mode".    If the printer does not have PCL Emulation, then you may need to find another laser printer that has this emulation.  An example of a printer that has this emulation is the Samsung HL-1440 (also, Borther HL-1230, 1440, 1450, 1470N).

A: Some laser printers require direct printing so you must turn off the spooling.   If you use Windows 98, open your printer's Printer Properties and look under Details - Spool Settings.  Make sure that the option "Print Directly to Printer" is selected.

Q: I run two small schools on the same system. How can I print classes/divisions for just one school at a time?

A: Any time you don't want specific divisions to print you go to Setup - Teachers/Classes/Rooms and make the divisions you don't want to print unofficial.

Q: The typing on my Attendance Labels is starting too close to the top of the label (or too far down). Can I change this?

A: Yes. Go to Attendance - Attendance Labels - Edit the format. Change the TOP MARGIN to correct the problem. If the labels are too far down, use 0 for your setting. If they start too soon, try increasing the top margin by 1.

Q: When I print off a sheet of labels on my laser printer, the last two labels get cut off. They move to a page of their own. Can this be helped?

A: This is likely a problem with a setting on your printer. Using the menu system on your printer, try increasing your "Form= " statement to 60. Every printer is different, but most printers have the option under the "Printing Options" menu and the statement will read something like "FORM = ## Lines. Make sure you save the changes. After saving, turn your printer off and back on, and then look up the "FORM=" statement again to be sure that the changes were saved.

Q: When I try to print something out from an archive year, it doesn’t work (or doesn’t print out properly). Why?

A: Have you changed printers? In the Current Year, go to Setup – Printers and Ports. Make a note of which printer is selected, and what the Output Port is. Go back to the archive and make sure that it has those same settings.

Q: Can Turbo-School print to a network printer through an IP address?

A: If you have an HP Laserprinter, you can use the HP Jet Direct software to do this.  Otherwise, you can use Windows Printer Sharing as an alternative.

Q: I’m on a Mac, and my printer is suddenly printing strange characters. It was working before! What’s wrong?

A: Try quitting Turbo-School and exiting your emulation software (Soft PC, Virtual PC etc.) Once you’ve quit, go right back in and try again.

Tallies, Breakdowns and Special Printouts

Q: I need a list that will give me an age breakdown of the kids this year, and totals for how many are males and how many are females for each division.

A: Go to Demographics - Statistics - Age and Sex Tallies.

Q: How can I find out what the FTE totals are for the month of October?

A: If you have our optional Analyzer Plus software, you can do this by creating a Form 1701 disk, and then using the Analyzer Plus to get the totals.

Q: I need a printout of all of my Special Ed students, showing what the category codes stand for, and a tally of how many students are in each category. Is there an easy way to do this?

A: Yes. Go to Utilities – Special Printouts/Exports – Special Ed Category Report. It should contain all of the information you need.

Q: My Month-End Enrollment report does not have the totals I expected. How do I find where the error is?

A: You need to do some detective work to find the problem. Print a Monthly Enrollment Report for the following month. See if that report is correct. Print out a registration/withdrawal list. Look for students who are not on the list but should be. Look them up in Demographics and check that their "days missed" or "days remaining" is filled in correctly.

Note: Students withdrawn with "0" days remaining will not be shown as withdrawn until the following month.

Exports

Q: My export isn’t working. I get strange errors that I don’t understand.

A: If you are using a floppy disk to export, try putting in a new, formatted disk and trying again. If you are trying to Export using a form from the "Edit the Format" section, go into the form you are using, and check to see that the file name contains only letters of the alphabet (8 letters long or less), followed by a period (".") and a three letter extension. An example of this is "common.dat" NOTE: Schools trying to export their Grade 7 Students to the M.I.G. system should go to Setup – School Address/Starting Date and change the School Abbreviation so that it does not contain any periods or other punctuation.

Q: A photo studio has asked for a disk containing information about the students in order to take school pictures. How do I do this?

A: In Turbo-School version 6.28 and later, there is an option to export to Jostens, MJM Studios, or Mountain West Studios. This option can be found under Utilities – Special Printouts/Exports – Photo Studio Exports/Imports. If you do not use one of the above studios, let us know and we’ll try to include the one you use in our next Turbo-School upgrade that we send out.

Q. I want to export my grade 7 data to MacSchool. Can you give me instructions?

A. Find out what the high school wants for data. Then, use Utilities – Export Data – Edit the Format to define the element numbers for the fields that the high school wants. Make the file name something that contains the name of your school. Make sure the filename is letters, a period and a 3-letter extension (i.e. anyname.txt) Print Screen this form for the school the export is going to, then save your changes. Use Utilities – Export Data – By Grade to export the grade 7 students to a floppy disk. Send the disk to the high school for importing.

NOTE: Dave Humphrey, Principal at Amy Woodland school in Cranbrook has done this before and may be able to provide more insight for schools as to what information is useful to export, and provide some help on what to do on the MacSchool side of things.

Registrations and Withdrawals

Q: What do I do with kids that are registered for my school, but then never show up in September?

A: If you don't think that they are coming to your school, delete them from the current year. If you are unsure, you can temporarily place them in an unofficial class. Students that never attend a class in the current year should NOT be left in the current year. Please erase them once you know that they are not returning.

Q: When students leave at the end of the year, do I have to withdraw them?

A: No, not unless you want to enter information about the school that they will be going to. When a student is in a previous year and then does not show up in the current year, it is assumed that he/she has gone elsewhere.

Q: If a student doesn't return in September, where should I enter his PSR closing information?

A: Enter withdrawal information in the archive year. The student should be deleted from the current year.

Q: When a student withdraws during the school year, what division should I move him/her to so that he/she no longer appears on my printouts?

A: A student that withdraws during the school year should never be moved out of the division that they were in when they withdrew from your school. As long as the "Out Date" and "Days Remaining" are filled in correctly, and you don’t answer ‘Y’ to the include withdrawals question when creating a printout, they will not show up on any printouts. If the student does, re-check the items mentioned above. If you’re stuck, call us for help - but whatever you do, DON’T move the student into another division.

Q: I want to pre-register some Kindergartens that won’t be coming here until the start of school next year. How can I do this?

A: In the Current Year, go to Setup – Teachers/Divisions/Rooms and create a new division for these students. The Room, Division (Class), and Teacher can be anything you choose. The Division (Class) must be set to Unofficial. When you register these students, fill in the correct enrollment date, and put them in the division (class) that you just created. NOTE: when you need to print a list of your pre-registered Kindergarten students, you’ll need to make the division official temporarily. Don’t forget to switch it back after printing!

NOTE: Schools using the "Next Year" option will instead enter new registrations in their next year, not in the current year.

Saving and Deleting

Q: I can't seem to save any changes that I have made! It gives a message that the Demographics Editor is in use by someone else, but I'm the only person who uses Turbo-School!

A: Check to see that you are only running one copy of Turbo-School. If you use Windows 95/98/Me, press <Ctrl-ESC> to move back to Windows from Turbo-School. Look at your task bar (usually located at the bottom of your screen). Check to see that there is only one copy of Turbo-School running on your system. If there is more than one, click on the extra(s) and close Turbo-School as you normally would.

Q: I can't seem to delete certain things on my screen. I press the delete key and it doesn't work. What should I do?

A: Try pressing <Ctrl-Y> or <Ctrl-Enter>. Holding down the <Ctrl-Enter> keys will quickly go through and delete lines of information. <Ctrl-Y> is for single line deletion.

Q: How can I delete a division full of kids?

A: Always make a backup before deleting a group of students. In order to delete all the students in a particular division at one time, use Bulk Changes to assign the kids to grade 13. Then, using Bulk Changes, delete all kids in grade 13. Once all kids in grade 13 have been erased, you will be able to go to Setup – Teachers/Classes/Rooms and delete the division itself if you wish.

Q: I am trying to delete a division that I no longer use, but when I try to save, it gives me an error message and saves the division with a "Z" in front. Why?

A: That division could not be deleted because there are still students in there. Use Demographics – Find a Student or Division – Find by Division Including Withdrawals to see a list of the students that are in the "Z" division. Then, after moving or deleting them, you’ll be able to go back and delete the division information under Setup.

Kindergarten Students

Q: For the first time, I have a kindergarten student that is full time. How do I mark this so that his/her grade code is correct?

A: On the first screen of their Demographics information, enter KF for their grade. Their screen two grade code information will automatically reflect the change.

When you register these students, fill in the correct enrollment date, and put them in the Division that you just created.

NOTE: when you need to print a list of your pre-registered Kindergarten students, you’ll need to make the division official temporarily. Don’t forget to switch it back after printing!

NOTE: Schools using the "Next Year" option will instead enter new registrations in their next year, not in the current year.

Q: I do not use the half-day method for my kindergarten students, but when I print a daily report, it keeps doubling their attendance anyway. How do I stop this?

A: First, make sure that their division is in the correct attendance group using Setup – Days in Session – Edit Days in Session. Next, try printing the Daily Report again. You will be asked to "Specify the group for changing half day absences to full day absences." Make sure that you answer "N" for no change.

Installing/Upgrading

Q: How do I move Turbo-School to a new computer?

A: Back up your existing data, including archives (use Utilities – Backup Data – All Data to do this). Then install Turbo-School onto the new system. Once that is done, go into the new system and restore your backed up data (Utilities – Restore Data). NOTE: When you first go into the new Turbo-School, before you restore your data, it will ask you to "Begin a New Year." You can ignore this message, and instead go straight to Utilities – Restore Data.

Q: How can I tell if I successfully upgraded to the latest version of Turbo-School?

A: When you start up Turbo-School, and are on the screen where you enter your authorization code, the version that you are running will be displayed on the screen. Check to see that it matches the version number on your upgrade disk. Or, once you are inside Turbo-School, press the <F8> Coffee Break key to display the version number.

Q. I want to install the latest version of Turbo-School, but now that I’m on a new Windows 95/98/Me machine, I don’t know how!

A. Here's how to install Turbo-School:

  1. Make sure that the Turbo-School program is not currently running.
  2. Insert your Turbo-School program diskette into drive A.
  3. On your desktop, open up My Computer.
  4. Open up the Floppy A: drive.
  5. Finally, double-click on the Install icon.
  6. Follow screen instructions from that point.

Q: I did not install the last version of Turbo-School that I received, and I just got a newer version in the mail. Do I have to install both of them, or can I just update to the latest version?

A If you are behind just one version, it is fine to install the latest copy without first installing the previous version. (If you are moving from a very old copy to a new one, please contact us here at TCS, and we’ll let you know how to proceed.)

Q. I do not have a Next Year icon in Windows 95/98/Me. How do I create it?

A. In the Windows 95/98/Me desktop, right click your mouse and select New – Shortcut. Under "command line", fill in the phrase c:\nextyear.bat (non-networked users only) and click on Next. As a name for the shortcut, fill in the name "Next Year Turbo-School", then click "Next". Finally, select an icon to use and click "Finish".

Or, in Windows 98, you may right click on the goturbo.bat file (use the My Computer icon to find it) and choose "Send to… - Desktop as Shortcut"

NOTE: In all versions that follow version 6.32 of Turbo-School, you will no longer need to create this icon. Next Year will be listed along with the Current Year and Archive Years when you start Turbo-School.

Q: I just installed Turbo-School on a Windows 95/98/Me machine. All of a sudden Turbo-School has shrunk so that it is in a small window. Help!

A: Pressing Alt-Enter lets you enlarge or shrink Turbo-School.

Q: Is there a version of Turbo-School made for the Windows environment?

A: Not at this time, but we are currently working on our new product "Visual Turbo-School" which will run on Windows ’95, Windows ’98, Windows NT, Windows ME, or Windows 2000. No release date has been set as of yet. Check out our "What’s New" page for updates.

Q: Can Turbo-School be run with a Linux Server?

A: At least one school has been running Turbo-School on a Linux Server with a Windows NT emulator called "Samba."

Q: Do I need to keep ALL of the Turbo-School program disks that I receive in the mail?

A: You only need to keep the versions of Turbo-School that you use when doing your year-end procedures. That program disk should be stored away for safekeeping with your "All Data" backup and "Current Year Student Data Only" backup that you create at the year’s end.

Backing Up/Restoring Data

Q: What is the safest method to backup my Turbo-School data?

A: Make sure you use the Turbo-School backup system (Utilities – Backup Turbo-School Data)! Any other type of backup system should only be used as a secondary backup procedure. Make backups at least once a week. Rotate through a set of 3-5 disks so that you can always go back a few steps (or days) if necessary. When keying in large quantities of information or when making large changes, back up even more often. If you run into a problem and you think your data may be damaged, do NOT make a backup! Contact us as soon as you can.

Q: I have a backup from before 1997 that I want to restore into Turbo-School and it won’t let me. What should I do?

A: The backup and restore system that was used before 1997 has been replaced. Mail us a COPY of the backup, or email us the disk, with an explanation of the problem. We’ll create a working backup for you, and sent it back your way.

Q: My backups are no longer working. Help!

A: One common reason for backups failing to work (other than a bad disk), is if your machine is out of memory. This can usually be fixed by running "memmaker" at the DOS prompt. Contact your school technician if you need assistance. In the meantime, you’ll want to continue making backups – here’s how (non-networked users only): quit Turbo-School and go out to the DOS (c:\) prompt. With a blank disk in your disk drive, type:

PBACKUP A: (and press the <Enter> key on your keyboard)

After the backup finishes, type

DIR A: (and press the <Enter> key on your keyboard)

If you see the file called "TSBACKUP ZIP" with the current date, then your backup was successful.

Q: I have a backup of an archive on disk that I would like to put on my computer – how do I do this?

A: If the backup you want to restore is a "Current Year Student Data Only" backup:

Make two (2) backups of your data as it is now.

In the Current Year, go to Utilities – Restore Data. Once you go back into Turbo-School’s Current Year, your data should look like you’d expect for the archive year you restored.

Use Setup – Begin a New Year – Archiving to create the archive. It will give you an informative message – make sure it shows the correct archive year.

Now go back to Utilities – Restore Data and restore one of the backups you made in step 1.

If the backup you want to restore is an "All Data" backup (Current Year & Archives):

Make two (2) backups of your data as it is now. Choose "Current Year student data only."

In the Current Year, go to Utilities – Restore Data. After that is done, start Turbo-School. In the list of archives, you should now see the new one(s) you wanted to restore.

Lastly, go to Utilities – Restore Data. Insert the Current Year Student Data Only backup that you created in step 1. Follow the instructions to restore your current year data.

NOTE: If the backup was made before 1997, it was created using a different backup system. You will not be able to use the methods described above. Instead, email us the backup, or mail us a COPY of the backup with a note explaining which archive(s) you need. We’ll fix it for you so that it will be easy to restore.

Attendance

Q: When I go into Daily Entries for my Attendance, no matter what date I enter, it shows attendance that was entered on a previous day. What is going on?

A: This happens when the "Store and Print" process has either not been done, or did not complete successfully. Look in the Attendance Editor to see the last date that attendance was recorded. After doing so, go to Daily Entries (entering the date that you want to record new attendance for) and choose "Erase the Entry Screens" You will now have a fresh screen to start recording attendance.

Q: Is there any way to show that a student is away on a Field Trip, without having them counted as being absent?

A: No, not at this time.

Q: I need a way to flag students with a special kind of absence. Can I do this?

A: Yes. Go to Setup – 3 Letter Codes – Absence Codes and enter the absence information..

NOTE: Only replace the two absence codes given if they are NOT being used during this school year.

NOTE: no matter what you call the absence, it will still be counted as a days absence in the student’s record.

Q: I want to be able to differentiate between students that are late to school and students that are late to class. Can I do this?

A: Unfortunately there is no way to distinguish between late to school and late to class at this time.

Q: Why do I get two copies of the Daily Report every time I print it?

A: When printing a Daily Report, if you answer "B" to include both phone numbers, it will print twice.

PSR System

Q: When I try to go into the PSR system menu, I am exited from Turbo-School! I seem to be able to do everything else fine. There are no error messages and I have tried doing a general re-sort.

A: Go back into Turbo-School. Look in the lower left-hand corner of the main menu screen. It will tell you how many "K FREE." This number must be a minimum of 160 or higher. If it isn’t, go to the DOS prompt and try typing "memmaker" and press "enter." Follow the directions from that point on.

Q: I keep trying to save changes in the PSR record of a student, but Turbo-School won’t let me. Why?

A: This student’s PSR was probably already printed out as a "Master Copy". You should locate the paper Master Copy and destroy it. Then, on the "Home Screen" of the student’s PSR, you can change the "Master PSR?" question to "Y".

Q: I accidentally entered a student’s grade level incorrectly in their PSR achievement screen, but now when I change it and press the <Enter> key, Turbo-School beeps at me and erases the change. What is wrong?

A: If this is happening, then you already have that year recorded somewhere else on their achievement screen. Each student can only have one entry for any particular school year. Erase the one that is incorrect, then try again.

Q: There is a date in the PSR system that I am trying to erase. I am having trouble doing this.

A: Press the <Ctrl–Y> keys on your keyboard to erase a whole line of text at a time. This can be used to erase any line of text, but it is especially useful when erasing dates.

Q: When I first registered a student, I spelled their name incorrectly (or student had a name change). Now, when I got into the PSR System, the incorrect name is still the one that appears on the screen!

A: The PSR System takes the name from Screen 2 of the student’s Demographic Information (Legal Surname, First Name). Change them on Screen 2 and you’ll see that change reflected in the PSR System.

Q: I’m entering K-3 Achievement marks for a student, but when I try to save, it won’t let me. It gives me a message saying that I need to enter the school year, the student’s grade, and their comment. I have done that but I still can’t save!

A: The comment that you’ve entered must be on the first line (the same level as the school year).

Q: I’ve heard that the electronic PSR Schooling Records must now be completely filled in for each student. I have so many that aren’t complete that I don’t know where to start!

A: Make sure that you complete records for any students transferring out of your school. Beyond that, start with the highest grade in your school, so that when they transfer at the end of the year, their records will be complete. Work backward from there. Also make sure that the new Kindergarten student records are complete from the start.

Orbiter

Q: When I try to create an Orbiter disk, I get a message saying it is not installed. I am asked for a password. Why & what is it?

A: When you first purchased the Orbiter program, you were given a password. That password is remembered for as long as Turbo-School is on that computer. As soon as you have any major changes to your machine, or switch to a new one, a new password is needed. Your district contact for Turbo-School may have that password for, or we can supply it for you.

Q: When I try to import my Orbiter marks, I get a message saying that there is no "REM2TURB.DAT" file. What is wrong?

A: The message occurs when a teacher entered marks for their students, but failed to choose "File – Quit" from the Orbiter menu. You have the option of starting the Orbiter and closing it properly for them, or asking them to go back in and choose "File – Quit."

Q: I am on a Mac, and even though I’m inserting the Orbiter disks and putting the Orbiter folder on my hard drive, the marks aren’t getting into Turbo-School!

A: The most common reason for this is having more than one copy of the Orbiter folder on your hard drive. Do a search on your computer to find all files or folders called "Orbiter." Delete ALL of the folders found, then empty the Trash. Now insert the teacher’s disk, and drag the "Orbiter" folder (NOT the whole disk) to your hard drive. NOTE: It is much better to drag it to the icon (picture) of the hard drive, rather than trying to put it in when the hard drive is open (showing all your files). If you drag it while the hard drive is open, it may go to the wrong location.

Q: I get an error when I try to "Put Data on Orbiter Disk" for a Mac Orbiter Disk that I just created.

A: If you are on an IBM or compatible machine and are trying to create a Mac Orbiter disk, you need to have additional software installed and running in order to put the data on the disk. If you are on a machine without Windows 95/98/Me the software you need is "MacDisk" if you have Windows 95/98/Me, then you should use "Mac Opener."

Q: Some of my teachers are having difficulty with the disk I’ve passed to them. I used the same disks as last year, so why isn’t it working now?

A: Although you can use the same disks from year to year, you need to format them completely (as IBM disks) before re-creating the Orbiter disks. Failure to do this may cause problems. If you didn’t format the disks before distributing them, you’ll need to start again.

Q: I upgraded to Virtual PC (or RealPC) and now my Orbiter instructions don’t work. The options I am asked to select don’t exist!

A: The instructions you had for your previous software no longer apply. Let us know, and we’ll fax you updated instructions.

Q: Since moving from an older computer to a new one with Windows 95/98/Me, I can no longer create Mac Orbiter disks for my teachers.

A: The software "Mac Disk" that you used to use to read Macintosh disks does not work with Windows 95/98/Me. You need to purchase software such as "Mac Opener" for your new machine. You may purchase "Mac Opener" through us – contact us for more info.

Year End Procedures

Q: I just created an Archive, but I can’t get into it! Why?

A: Previous to and including version 6.32, there is a flaw in the system that doesn’t allow for 10 or more archives. To access the Archive using one of these versions, delete your oldest archive by going to Setup – Begin a New Year – Archive Erasure.

Q: What are the proper Year-End steps to take in Turbo-School?

A: For step by step instructions, please refer to the blue handout titled "Turbo-School Year End Flowchart" in your manual. Make sure you are using the most up to date copy of this handout. This sheet comes with your Spring upgrade package, which contains the latest version of Turbo-School. If you don’t have this sheet, contact us and we’ll fax one your way.

Q: I get Run Time errors and/or ISAM errors in Next Year when trying to register new students or even when I just try to look up a student’s PSR information. What is going on?

A: In Windows 95/98/Me, right click on your Next Year icon. Click on properties, then choose the Program Tab. On the line marked "Working," enter the path where your data is stored.

Q: Should I use the Next Year option in Turbo-School?

A: The Next Year option’s purpose is to enable you to create class lists for September while still entering attendance in the Current Year. Everything else including pre-registering students, can be done without using Next Year. We do not recommend using Next Year unless absolutely necessary. If you do need to use it, please make sure to carefully follow the "Turbo-School Year End Flowchart", and call if you have any questions.

Q: Once I’ve finished following the steps in the flowchart, is there anything else I should do before leaving for the summer?

A: It is a good idea to take an "All Data" and a "Current Year Student Data Only" backup home with you in case of fire or theft during the summer. Typically, there is one school each September that has lost all of their Turbo-School data due to one of these events.

Q: What do I do about students that will not be returning next year?

A: If you are sure that they will not be returning, fill in their withdrawal information in the Current Year. If you have a Next Year created, you should delete them (not withdraw them) in Next Year.

Q: How can I tell if I have recycled?

A: Look under Setup – School Address/Starting Date to see what the first day of school is. It should be set to September of the new school year. Check to see that the students do not have Attendance Records in the Attendance Editor. Recycling clears their Attendance Record so that it is ready for the new year.

Miscellaneous

Q: Are there any plans to accommodate 10-digit phone numbers?

A: We are working on adding area code fields to the phone numbers.

Q: I would like to know what is contained on a disk that I have. Can I do this easily in Turbo-School?

A: Yes! Go to Utilities - DOS Shell - Display files in Drive A (or B if that is the name of your drive). After viewing the file(s), press a key to return to the main Turbo-School screen.

Q: I am using Windows 95/98/Me. All of a sudden Turbo-School has shrunk so that it is in a small window. Help!

A: Pressing <Alt-Enter> lets you enlarge or shrink Turbo-School.

Q: Why does a mail name of Mr. & Mrs. O save as Mr. & Mrs. O O?

A. Turbo-School interprets the name "O" as an initial and then adds the last name, which is redundant. Type in "Mr. & Mrs. O" with two spaces before the "O" name.

Q: How do I create a House Team list that randomly assigns students to the different teams?

A: Go to Setup – 3-Letter Codes and choose "House Team" from the list. (if it is not in the list, please see "How do I create a new name for an unused element on Screen 1?") Once you’ve selected House Team, you’ll see spaces for a code, and for a longname. List your house teams here. The codename can be an abbreviation of the longname, or a number. The longname is the full name of the team. For example, if you had a team called "Yellow" the code could be "Y" and the longname would be "Yellow." Press <F2> to save your changes. Next, go to Demographics – Bulk Changes – Assign House Team. When it asks "Assign students to à ___ " type 3 question marks (???) and press enter to randomly assign the students.

Q: How do I rename an unused element from Screen 1 (i.e. Unused 24)?

A: Go to Setup – Element Names and Widths. Move to the element that you wish to rename, and type the new name over the old one. To the right you’ll see that there is a help line. This shows at the bottom of the screen to let people know what should be entered in this element. Describe what should be entered. Press <F2> to save your changes.

Q: What do I enter for a student whose Native Band name is not on the list in Turbo-School?

A: If the Band is Federal or not within B.C, it will not be on the list as the Ministry does not track those bands at this time. If you wish, you may enter that information as a comment, or in another unused area of Turbo-School. If it is a Band within B.C, please contact the Ministry of Education for assistance.

Q: I use Virtual PC, and when I try to start it, my screen doesn’t act/look the way it normally does. What is the solution?

A: Select Control – Restart Virtual PC

NOTE: To avoid this problem in the future, do not choose to save your last setups when asked (this question is asked when you quit Virtual PC)
